1982-84 Active Member,
WAVAW (Women Against Violence Against Women), Cambridge, MA. Activities
included educational events and protest campaigns.
1984-85 Organizing Member,
Not In Our Name, a feminist protest against corporate violence
against women. Activities included civil disobedience at the New York Stock
Exchange.
1984-86 Founding Member
of Minor Disturbance, protest group against militarism from a feminist
perspective. Activities included numerous educational events, direct
actions, and four arrests at: Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee, Ma.;
Federal Building in Springfield, Ma.; Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp in
Newbury, England; and Seneca Falls Women’s Encampment for A Future of Peace
and Justice, Romulus, NY.
1986-1994 Founding Member
of Feminists Against Pornography, Northampton, MA. Activities included
educational events, protest actions and numerous acts of civil disobedience.
I developed our slideshow, Pornography
and Woman-Hating, and presented it across the country at college
campuses, battered women’s shelters and community forums, and trained many
other women to present it.
